Our brand new system was originally installed by this company several years ago, and we have been happy with the product. Frank M. came to service our AC system today and he was great. He was on time, I received notice when he was on the way, and he got the job done thoroughly even though it's almost 100 degrees outside. He was very professional and explained information to me in a way I could understand.
He suggested an additional product and explained why it could be helpful due to the age of some of our original ductwork. He wasn't trying to upsell me, just trying to make sure we take care of our system, since they are not cheap. I will definitely request him as our technician again when it's time to service the furnace in the fall.

Our builder used this company for our new build, Trane Units. 9months with no issues but I asked them if they would come check our options due to somewhat noisy airflow on the main floor. Louis came to help us - on time, very knowledgeable, took his time to explain the options (air flow vs efficiency) and then explained to me as he made some changes to ensure I was happy with them. The installation is clean! Two floors, dual zone on one so not simple. Would recommend them to all!

Absolutely worst company ever, technicians not user friendly and do not conducted any type of trouble shoot to figure out my central heat/AC system. quickly to say it work although my down stairs was 50 degrees in a 30 degrees weather. Difficult to deal with regarding Home Warranty tickets, they do the minimum for the $100 work order price. Stay away from this company, technicians are worthless.

Carolina A/C did the installation for the HVAC system in our new home (and did a great job). A few weeks after moving in I decided to connect our thermostats to our smart home system. What could go wrong, right? In doing so I screwed up some settings and managed to brick our entire system (not their fault, it was the Honeywell App and my penchant for clicking things nobody else would click).
The result? No heat at all, and this weekend is calling for snow and ice. Oops. At this point, 2pm on a Friday, I figured I was out of luck for the weekend. (Time to get out the space heaters?) I called their office to see when I could get a tech out, assuming it would be Monday or Tuesday, or maybe later given how short staffed places are in COVID times. Tonja in the office worked her magic to squeeze me into the schedule that very day, and in no time at all one of their awesome techs (Louis) was out to fix everything.
Not only did Louis fix the issue (that I had created), he went around to check everything to make sure there would be no other issues. He discovered a sensor in our crawl space that wasn't operating correctly, one that would have caused us intermittent and hard to track down issues in the future, and he ordered the part on the spot. At this point Carolina A/C had already given me outstanding service worthy of this 5 start review, but then Tonja from the office noticed that we were not enrolled in the free extended warrantee that Trane offers if you register within 60 days of moving in.
And it's a big deal: 10 years rather than 5 on all parts. Our builder didn't tell us to do this, and so if Tonja didn't tell us we would have missed out. Tonja then told me that she could handle the registration for us entirely if I wanted because she had all my information as well as the serial numbers for our units. As I write this review the morning after all of this, I have an email in my inbox with the confirmed extended warrantee from Trane. Outstanding. 10 stars for service and caring for your customers. Thank you, Tonja, thank you Louis, thank you Carolina AC!

AC stopped working during the 90 degree NC heatwave. They responded and came out same day to inspect my system. The tech who came to my house was incredible. Very nice, explained everything, gave realistic expectations on a return call. The next day someone from the office called stating it would cost almost $1k to repair. I looked up the price of the part and it was less than $200. Spoke with the tech directly and even he thought the price seemed very high.
I understand companies have high labor costs and markup of parts is expected, but the office lady would not give me an itemized breakdown of the $1k bill. I thought that was very unprofessional and a little shady. I ended up purchasing the part and fixing the unit myself. A standard maintenance visit from another company confirmed no other issues are present.
I paid $150 for the part. Why was this company trying to charge me and additional $800 for labor? Again, the tech was amazing. He was honest and upfront. I think these folks are highly overpriced and the fact they aren't transparent with cost lead me to another company.

Our house was built in 2019 and Carolina air has come out at least 3x since last year. In the winter time, the house is cold and damp. In the summer time, the house is comfortable and pleasant in some rooms and in other rooms especially the master bedroom it is hot and miserable especially at night when we are trying to sleep. We turn down the AC ( make it cooler) and nothing happens in our room as there is no air flow flowing through the master bedroom vents but in my sons room his room is a refrigerator.
This company has came out THREE different times and checked the vents and the air temperature in each of the rooms and said there is nothing wrong but there is ABSOLUTELY something wrong with the air flow. Now that out house is not under warranty they want to charge $150 to come out. No thank you! I'd give a NEGATIVE 5 review if I could as they've given us horrible service.

THE BEST! AC/Heating tech Michael came out, as I was setting up our place under their service program. High marks for Micheal during these COVID concerned times. His professionalism, candor and willingness to share how the system works and troubleshoot any current or future issues left me feeling we were in good hands. 1st visit both AC and Heating got inspected tuned and our system performance noticeably improved.
We are on their annual program now and wont see someone till the Fall. We certainly hope Micheal returns as he is a great representative of what Carolina Air Conditioning provides - PEACE OF MIND and comfort for your major household equipment. Danny / Clayton NC

I had a technician come out on last Tuesday for routine service. My heat was working perfectly. After he left my house temp dropped to 60 degrees and woke me up at 4am! House freezing! Called them and they have no emergency service option. I had to get in line for an appt and they didn't return for 2 days. The tech came back and blamed it on the unit not staying lit all of a sudden and now a part is needed all of a sudden and it's on backorder!
When I tried calling for updates they only tell me "I don't know" so they basically have no idea when my family will have heat! In the middle of WINTER! this is unacceptable and I will call 5 on your side! My heat was working excellently before you guys came out! You probably broke it to get more money from my landlord under some so called warranty service!

We have been using Carolina Air Conditioning Company, INC. for about 3 years now and we are always very happy with their service. They have provided us with maintenance of both our upstairs and downstairs units and have replaced both units when the old ones died. All the service has been completed with care and no issues at all. All of the technicians are extremely polite and very thorough in their work and explanation of their work. We trust that they know what they are doing and that the work is honest. I HIGHLY recommend them.

I've been a customer of Carolina A/C for years, and have no desire to even look for another HVAC service. They recently replaced my 15+ year old HVAC unit quickly, at a decent price, and with financing options. I wasn't pressured to buy a more expensive unit and all of my questions were answered fully (and patiently!). More recently, I found that my heat wasn't coming on.
I didn't expect to have to replace the unit, considering I just had it replaced, but I was apprehensive about what the cost may be. I made an appointment with Carolina A/C, and the technician (Charlie) was prompt, communicative, and helpful. Luckily, the fix wasn't expensive and my heat was on in no time- just in time for the cold snap headed our way. I highly recommend their maintenance plan: check-ups 2x/ year, and savings on repairs and service, if needed.

Charlie the technician was super friendly and professional. He diagnosed our service problem quickly and provided pictures to demonstrate the problem. He was careful about wearing shoe protectors in the house. He fixed the problem and offered a service plan to help prevent possible problems in the future but didn't harass me about purchasing. He gets 5 stars from me.
The business gets 4 stars because they should notify customers of time delays. When I called after waiting almost 4 hours for an arrival estimate the receptionist Amber was not friendly at all. Because of this I decided not to purchase the Maintenance program.

Unfortunately our home builder contracts with this company. They serviced our unit a few times during our 1 year warranty. Their customer service is horrific. Our AC unit stopped working within a week of us moving in. It was summertime and extremely hot. My son was a baby and had asthma. I called them to request someone come out that day and even after sharing the issue with my son, the rep stated, "We have other customers to service and no one will be coming out today." I have had the same tech come to my house a couple of times and then lied to us saying he has never been here before.
Regardless of the bad customer service and forgetful techs they were usually able to fix our unit. The company offered a 5 year extended warranty. Even after everything we were willing to give them another chance so we contacted them numerous times before our 1 year warranty expired to take advantage of the offer. Repeatedly we were told the woman in charge would call us back to get it set up but we never heard anything back. This company obviously doesn't care about retaining customers.

I would have given it a zero! Technician came out said fan was gone it was running before he got there. He took one of the capacitors with him off of our unit, rewired our unit so that it wouldn't work at all. He wanted to sale us a new unit! My husband and my dad both are very knowledgeable, plus I saw the capacitor there and after he left it was gone.
We had someone else come fix it. My dad called the business to complain to the manager and they sent an apology and a refund for service call. I didn't mind paying him for what he did, it wasn't until days later that we realized that he had taken a part and rewired the unit. Crooked! I hope Bullard doesn't train his employees to do this.
This time they got caught. Will never call them again and share this story with everyone I can. My husband works for a huge Construction Company and he spreads the word also.

Yesterday (Tuesday 06/19/18) I called Carolina Air Conditioning to have them come out and fix my A/C that had stopped working, The nice lady told me they would have a Technician come out the next day (Wednesday) late afternoon (which I considered to mean 2ish to 5ish)she was unable to give me a time table but said the tech. would call me 30 minutes before his arrival and I needed to be present, so I took a half day off of work to insure I would be present.
At 5:30pm Wednesday patiently waiting, I have yet to hear from them so I called and of course I get the answering service. The service said they would pass the message. I get a phone call saying the tech was still at another call but I was next and the tech would be calling. now at this time its 9:00pm with no response or courtesy call, so again I call and get the answering service with the same response that tech would call its now 10:30pm with no response.
The thing is I would not even be upset if I would have only got a simple courtesy call to let me know they couldn't make it. So instead of having a potential life time customer they no longer will ever be considered by me and I want everyone to know to think twice before considering Carolina Air Conditioning! I will endure another night with my house temperature at currently 94 down from 98 earlier today.
I wish I had read the reviews before calling because after reading their reviews I have found that Carolina Air Conditioning is Shady (no pun intended) NEVER AGAIN AND I HOPE THE OWNERS READ THIS AND LEARN FROM THIS! COMMON CUSTOMER COURTESY WILL SAVE YOU FROM LOSING BUSINESS!

I do not know how the sales rep that sold my 90 year old father a wireless thermostat (WHO DOES NOT USE A COMPUTER OR EMAIL) with their brand new top of the most expensive ever air and heating. My father does not have internet or email. for a reputable company to have such unethical sales is worth this review. The thermostat has broken three times and last night at 37 degrees the heat did not work per the thermostat and it was very cold for old folks. The instructions are very poor that even when the service rep comes out it takes a while for him to study them. It is still cold and no heat.

Got a quote for $600 to replace a bad cut out switch. Part costs $20 at Home Depot and took the guy just over 2 hours to install. Got a bill for $750, charged for 4.5 hours and over $250 for the part. Then was told the extra over the estimate was their fee to come diagnose the problem. Don't most places deduct the fee to do the estimate out of the overall job if you go with them to do the job?
Even if not, you'd think that extra $150 would have been in the estimate if they knew it was an upfront fee. Even more sad is they were giving me a "deal" since I've done work for them in the past. Now I know to charge more next time they come calling.

I tried to take on a project myself and failed miserably blowing a fuse in my furnace. CAC had a 24/7 service that was able to come that evening which was awesome and they were able to diagnose and fix the issue with ease. I even had a slight issue the next morning but via a phone call they were able to help me. A little expensive but that seems to be the price you pay for convenience. my experience has been great with them.

BEWARE! I will keep this short and sweet. (1) They mark up parts costs 800% When questioned they say it is for their time to buy the parts, costs of their trucks, gas, etc. (2) They charge $100.00 just to come to your house, does not include anything else, just to come to you. Any reputable business would subtract that to the cost of the job, labor etc.
Only would not do that if you had no work done. (3) They push their annual service contract in exchange for discount on parts. WHAT A JOKE ON 800% MARK UP! (4) They do the work without telling you the costs, until after they are done, then WOW! You've been scammed. Stay away unless you have money to blow, and pay 10 x what the actual cost of the job is.

Misdiagnosed my damper issue, even thou I told the dispatcher what the problem is. Tried to recommend me un needed duct work and construction work that would cost thousands of dollars. Had to hire different company to replace a zone damper. At best the HVAC guy don't know what his doing or they are a total rip off.

Converted to a central HVAC system back in '98. Went with Carolina A/C and a Trane unit. It failed this weekend so called Monday morning. Was advised that Mondays are very busy due to weekend volume catch up. As promised the tech, Joe K., arrived late in the afternoon. I gave him the symptoms and my diagnosis which he immediately verified, a blown condenser fan motor.
Some good luck too, the replacement model was on his truck. Quickly installed, up and running, coolant lines tested and found to be in good shape. Back in business. Bring on the '90's. I value loyalty and reward merchants who provide excellent service and value with repeat business, recommendations and honest reviews. Carolina A/C has retained my continued loyalty today.

Purchased the coupon for the inspection and maintenance. They didn't find anything that I had to do right then and there wasn't any high pressure sales pitch for other services, just recommendations. The technician emailed pictures of the work to be done before getting started. Having had a lot of interactions with contractors I have to say Carolina AC is awesome.

So, ordinarily I'd be weary if the same company that comes out for a simple coupon and cleanup gave me the worst possible news, but I already knew there was a problem and I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. So large problem told and I gave them permission to fix it right away - the following day I had whole new unit. No waiting, no killing my house guests coming for the weekend and no carbon-induced-illnesses over the holidays.
Since the new unit has been installed and the old crap totally cleared away - everyone has been extremely helpful. Follow ups have been informative and they're even looking out by way of rebates and no-interest loans. Thanks Carolina Air. 10 years of hassle free heating and cooling - WAY better that all the problems I've had with other venders over the last year!

Dana the receptionist was most helpful in setting up the appointment and communicating schedule changes. Justin the tech was able to diagnose what was wrong with my Rheem heat pump and reprogram the thermostat within a couple of hours. The unit was brand new and I did the initial installation myself so it wasn't wired completely correct. Needed an expert to finish the job.
I would also be skeptical of the other reviews this company's prices were more than reasonable for the time and the skill the tech obviously had. The technician was also courteous in taking shoes off before entering residence without my asking. My house is surrounded by good old Orange County clay. Would definitely recommend this company to anyone.

In April 2013, Carolina came to service our air conditioner on the third floor. They recommended that we install a "safety float sensor" in the drip pan as a secondary fail safe in case the drain clogged. It would provide us "peace of mind" for $130. In September 2013, our third floor unit overflowed causing $3,500 of damage (could have been worse had we not caught it). Carolina diagnosed the issue as a clogged drain. Asked why the "safety float" they installed didn't work, the response was that it was installed at a higher elevation than the vent to the drain pipe.
In layman's terms, it wasn't installed properly. We asked the manager to reimburse us through the technician. The technician said the manager's answer was "no". We asked to speak with the owner/manager and technician replied he could not as the owner had dinner reservations. I had vacation plans for the next day, but he didn't seem to care.
Thus we are now "subrogating" the claim to our insurance. Until that is complete, we're out of our deductible and stuck fixing major water damage. Update: 10 months after filing the "subrogation" claim through insurance, we finally recovered our deductible from Carolina. This is not a company you can trust.

I second Sarah T's "beware" of this company. I also had Carolina Air Conditioning to my house for a heat pump system check because I bought an Amazon local deal. The technician told me that there was a bad capacitor and also needed a new hard start kit. How much? $235 for the capacitor and $187 for the hard start kit. I thought that could not be right as I had maintained the unit quite thoroughly.
I then called my regular heat pump company. They ran all the factory recommended tests and everything was perfect. The system did not even need any freon for the summer season. Do not trust Carolina Air Condititioning! Get a second company to look at it.

Beware! This company will attempt to over charge you! We had one of their service techs come out as our air conditioning was working, but felt a little warmer than last year. Last year we had the coils replaced and our unit was under warranty. In fact, our unit is still under warranty. We knew there was a very very minor leak, but wanted it checked to see if we needed the unit refilled with coolant. Well, this company charges you $100 to even come out to look at the problem - we didn't think that was unreasonable since they promised to do a complete diagnosis of our unit to ensure our leak was OK and give us an estimate for how much it would be to put coolant in.
The guy showed up, and about 10 minutes later comes back to the door to let us know that it'd be close to $600 to put coolant in - and to diagnose the unit would be more money since he didn't know what the leak would be from, but it might be the coils. When we told him we already told the company we replaced the coils last year, he said "Oh, well then it's not that." No.really?
He then said he had no clue why it would be leaking, but he was sure it was a big problem. In fact, we need to probably replace it. We asked WHY the hell we paid $100 because he was supposed to diagnose the issue, he said no, the $100 is just for him to show up at your door. Needless to say, I got another estimate. And guess what? NOTHING was wrong with my unit AT ALL.
A very very minor leak, which was within normal range for the unit and certainly not an issue. And we only paid $200 for the coolant in the system. When we told this other company how much this company wanted to charge, he said that was over double what the cost was. BEWARE this company! Take your business elsewhere!
